How it works

Anamorphic-XR™ displays are equipped with either a conventional or an anamorphic spatial light modulator (SLM) attached to the top of an anamorphic lens.
Light that is emitted from the SLM pixels travels down a transparent anamorphic waveguide to the bottom, where an anamorphic mirror bounces the light back up and allows it to be extracted and perceived by your customers’ eyes.
This enables both real-world images to pass through the waveguide and metaverse images to appear as if they are floating in space in the user’s field of vision.

Anamorphic-XR™ vs. Conventional AR/VR Displays

  • Unlike some other approaches, Rain’s Anamorphic-XR™ technology is ultra-thin, bright, and lightweight while offering undistorted, high-resolution images across an exceptionally wide field of view.
  • This is because we incorporate anamorphic elements that magnify images in orthogonal planes independently to minimize distortion. We also use polarization instead of diffraction to extract light from the waveguide, which eliminates grainy colors and image stretching.
  • Furthermore, our SLM pixels leverage the proven track record of our proprietary mini and micro LED technologies, providing a potential alternative to conventional AR and VR displays with improved efficiency, brightness, and manufacturability that you can easily integrate with your current designs.
